The Other Doctor
The Other was a key part of the Cartmel Master Plan that was being planted in the last two seasons of the classic series. Much like Bad Wolf the idea that the Doctor was more than a Time Lord cropped up in various episodes. Remembrance of the Daleks and Silver Nemesis being the two stories with the most obvious references. The Master Plan followed The Doctor into the New Adventures where it developed into the concept of the Doctor being an reincarnation of a contemporary of Rassilon and Omega known as the Other.
This omnibus would begin with the Target adaptation of Remembrance of the Daleks since it marks the first mention of the Other and ties the New Adventures quite securely to the TV series.
Cold Fusion introduced a character, Patience, with apparent ties to the Other, who recognised the Doctor.
Lungbarrow was the culmination of the Master Plan and revealed just what bound the Doctor and Other together.
The Infinity Doctors has never really found a concrete place in Doctor Who canon, yet contains many hints that this may actually be a tale of the Other rather than the Doctor. Foremost of which is the inclusion of Patience from Cold Fusion.

Remembrance of the Daleks
by Ben Aaronovitch
Shoreditch, London, 1963. Two teachers follow an unnervingly knowledgeable schoolgirl to her home - a blue police telephone box in the middle of a scrapyard The old man whom the girl calls 'grandfather' is annoyed at the intrusion: there is something he has to do, and he has a premonition that he will be delayed for some time... Six regenerations later the Doctor returns; and Ace, his travelling companion, sees London as it was before the Sixties started swinging - and long before she was born. But a Grey Dalek is lurking in Foreman's Yard; Imperial Daleks are appearing in the basement of Coal Hill School; and both factions want the Hand of Omega, the Remote Stellar Manipulator that the Doctor has left behind. Has the Doctor arrived in time to deprive the Daleks of the secret of time travel?

'The entire universe is at stake and I'm locked in here with another incarnation of myself, and not even one of the good ones!'
More than one TARDIS lands on a barren ice world. The fifth Doctor, Adric, Nyssa and Tegan find a once ordered society on the verge of collapse, as rebels wage a dirty war with Scientifica, the ruling elite. All that stands between order and anarchy is the massed presence of an Adjudicator peacekeeping force.
But is peace the only reason for the Adjudicator garrison? What exactly has been discovered deep below the planet's surface? Who are the mysterious Feratu? And why is telling a ghost story a criminal offence?
The fifth Doctor sides with the cause of justice and fairness as always. But, as a threat to the universe unfolds, he finds himself in conflict with his past... and his future.

Lungbarrow

'Nonsense, child,' retorted the Doctor. 'Grandfather indeed! I've never seen you before in my life!'
All is not well on Gallifrey. Chris Cwej is having someone else's nightmares. Ace is talking to herself. So is K-9. Leela has stumbled on a murderous family conspiracy. And the beleaguered Lord President, Romanadvoratrelundar, foresees one of the most tumultuous events in her planet history.
At the root of all is an ancient and terrible place, the House of Lungbarrow in the southern mountains of Gallifrey. Something momentous is happening there. But the House has inexplicably gone missing.
673 years ago the Doctor left his family in that forgotten House. Abandoned, disgraced and resentful, they have waited. And now he's home at last.
In this, the seventh Doctor's final New Adventure, he faces a threat that could uncover the greatest secret of them all.
Lungbarrow is available for free download as an Ebook on the BBC website.

“Sing about the past again, and sing that same old song.
Tell me what you know, so I can tell you that you’re wrong.”
Gallifrey. The Doctor’s home planet. For twenty thousand centuries the Gallifreyans have been the most powerful race in the cosmos. They have circumnavigated infinity and eternity, harnessed science and conquered death. They are the Lords of Time, and have used their powers carefully.
But now a new force is unleashed, one that is literally capable of anything. It is enough to give even the Time Lords nightmares. More than that: it is enough to destroy them.
It is one of their own.
Waiting for them at the end of the universe.
The Infinity Doctors is being reprinted by the BBC and is available for pre-order from Amazon.
